FAQ

Common questions

I have no hot water. What should I check first?

For a gas system, check the pilot light is on and the gas is turned on. For an electric system, check the switchboard for a tripped switch. If that does not fix it, call Sam. Do not try to repair a gas appliance yourself.

Should I repair or replace my hot water system?

A leaking tank usually means it is time to replace it. Many other faults, such as a pilot that will not stay lit or a failed thermostat or element, can be repaired. We will tell you which makes more sense.

How long do hot water systems last?

Storage tanks typically last around 8 to 12 years, depending on water quality and the type of system. If yours is getting old and playing up, it may be worth planning a replacement before it fails.

Are you licensed for gas hot water work?

Yes. Sam holds Victorian Building Authority licence 43391.
